The "Nest" for Mobile Infants, Toddlers and Preschoolers

September 27th, Sunday

3:00-4:30 pm

This afternoon will include strategies for creating a simple, warm, inspiring environment that decreases power struggles with your little one and increases everyone's sense of wellbeing.

We'll start with some time to connect to each other and explore a few techniques for tending to our own nervous systems. Then we'll delve into some practical ways you can set up your home environment for these little movers and shakers. The approaches we will cover are deeply informed by the Montessori method and the work of Simplicity Parenting. The goal will be to support your child's budding independence in a way that decreases stress for parents and children alike.

For Parents: Tools for Emotional Regulation

November 8th, Sunday

3 - 4:30pm

We are often told that one of the best ways to manage our children's big feelings is to regulate our own. That can feel like a tall order when most of us weren't taught how when we were children!  Come breathe, move and discover some profound tools for tending to your own big feelings. While this work is based in yogic and mindfulness practice - we won’t be moving through a full yoga practice.  We will have time for discussion and discovery of parental stress and time to explore yogic techniques and tools that can help us clear that stress and find center.

No stretchy pants or previous experience necessary. Options will be given so yoga geeks and first timers will all get what they need. You'll leave feeling more settled, integrated and relaxed - and with tools you can use anytime to help you find your center and listen to your own big feelings in a regulated way!

Space is limited!

$35 each

Olynda's gentle guidance is grounded in experience. She has over two decades of working with children and 13 years of parenting her own two children. During this time she has been a deep student of the practice of being with children. In addition to being a Parent Coach, she is also a Certified Montessori teacher, experienced Yoga teacher and member of the Peaceful Schools NC faculty.

While she has worked with teens, tweens, elementary aged kids and some babies, her deepest training has been with children in early childhood. Olynda became a certified Montessori teacher in 2007. She was drawn to the ease and effectiveness of this incredibly wise method - and is still a huge Montessori geek. She has worked in the Montessori environment in various roles for over 10 years.  Several of her articles for parents and teachers have been published in "Montessori Life" the national Montessori Magazine.

Wanting more tools to offer parents she completed the Simplicity Family life training in 2017. There she learned beautiful ways to help families sort through the complexity and chaos to find simple, doable changes that lead to huge shifts in family life.

Olynda is also a RYT-500 Certified Yoga teacher and has been teaching adults and children yoga for over 20 years.  Years of yoga practice has honed her intuition and ability to be present with others. Olynda often integrates doable self-care practices into her work with parents to help with manage the stresses of the monumental work of parenting! Check out her yoga offerings here.
